SPOTS AND BELMISHES!!!

Fed up with Dark spots and marks in your beautiful face? Todays article will help you to understand the reasons for it's occurrence and also to remove it from the roots. Dark marks on face are a common skin problem faced by many individuals. These marks are also referred to as age spots and are caused by excessive exposure to the sun. Even though the condition of having dark spots on face is termed age spots, they can occur in individuals of any age. However, older individuals are more prone to dark marks on the facial skin due to sun exposure over the years. The pigment melanin is responsible for giving the skin its color. With prolonged sun exposure, the melanin production in the body increases and the extra melanin accumulates in small clumps beneath the skin. This leads to the appearance of dark spots.

These spots are also known as hyper pigmentation and occur mostly in the middle age. Hyper pigmentation has multiple causes and may be focal or diffuse. Most cases are due to an increase in melanin production and deposition. Focal hyper pigmentation is most often post inflammatory in nature, occurring after injury (eg, cuts and burns) or other causes of inflammation (eg, acne, lupus). Focal linear hyper pigmentation is commonly due to phytophotodermatitis, which results from ultraviolet light combined with furocoumarins in limes, celery, and other plants. Hyper pigmentation also has systemic and neoplastic causes. It can be a result of some skin disease, due to certain medications, ultra violet light or pregnancy.

Age or "liver" spots are a common form of hyper pigmentation. They occur due to sun damage, and are referred to by doctors as solar lentigines. These small, darkened patches are usually found on the hands and face or other areas frequently exposed to the sun. Changes in skin color can result from outside causes. For example, skin diseases such as acne may leave dark spots after the condition clears. Other causes of dark spots are injuries to the skin, including some surgeries. Freckles are small brown spots that can appear anywhere on the body, but are most common on the face and arms. Freckles are an inherited characteristic.

Remedies are many but some people go in for laser therapy to lighten the dark marks on face. This involves directing an intense light beam at the facial skin. The light enters the skin and destroys the cells that lead to dark marks. The healthy cells are left intact. Laser treatment can be quite expensive. Chemical peels also help to remove dark spots. This involves application of a chemical solution on the face. This is then peeled away and the dark spots are removed along with it. Many lightening creams are also available in the market today. These contain bleaching agents which help to lighten the spots and also control melanin production.
