EXCESSIVE SWEATING IS NO MORE AN ISSUE!!!

Sweating occurs when the sweat glands in your skin secrete a salty fluid called sweat, or perspiration. Sweating is a normal function that serves to cool your body, often in hot or humid environments or when you exercise. Excessive sweating may be a symptom of an underlying disease, disorder or condition. The medical term for excessive sweating is hyperhidrosis. Emotionally stressful or traumatic events are a psychological cause of excessive sweating. The consumption of certain substances, such as alcohol, caffeine or spicy foods, may also cause you to sweat. Hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid) and hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) are two conditions that may cause excessive sweating.

Hyperhidrosis is defined as an excessive and non physiological amount of sweat produced by the body. It can be a generalized situation where excessive sweating appears all over the body or focal hyperhidrosis where the excessive sweating is situated in areas such as the hands, palms, armpits, feet or the face. Hyperhidrosis affects between 1 and 2% of the world's population. The wish to control excessive sweating with simple means such as pills, lotions, etc is very old. The success rate with these treatment for severe cases of excessive sweating is extremely limited. For severe hand sweating, endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy (ETS) is the preferred approach. For excessive armpit sweating as the sole presentation then axillary suction curettage is the recommended method. For those who suffer from excessive foot sweating as the primary presentation or when ETS did not help their sweaty feet then lumbar sympathectomy is offered now as a surgical solution.

Hypoglycemia is a condition that occurs when your blood sugar (glucose) is too low. It can produce a variety of symptoms and effects but the principal problems arise from an inadequate supply of glucose to the brain, resulting in impairment of function.Blood sugar below 70 mg/dL is considered low. Blood sugar at or below this level can harm you. Hypoglycemia occurs when Your body's sugar (glucose) is used up too quickly, Glucose is released into the bloodstream too slowly, Too much insulin is released into the bloodstream. Hypoglycemia in people who do not have diabetes may be caused by Drinking alcohol, Insulinoma (a tumor in the pancreas that produces too much insulin) and Liver disease. Symptoms you may have when your blood sugar gets too low include Double vision or blurry vision, feeling nervous, Headache,Hunger,Shaking or trembling, Sleeping trouble,Sweating etc.Treatment depends on the cause. If you have diabetes, check your blood sugar level whenever you have symptoms of low blood sugar. If your blood sugar is low (70 mg/dL), you need to treat yourself right away.Eat something that has about 15 grams of carbohydrates.

With the recent advances in medicine, many forms of treatment are available to treat sweating. Medications, topical antiperspirants, iontophoresis, botox and surgery have been tried to treat sweating. Endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy or ETS is the most effective method to treat sweating. There is no longer any need to look any further for a cure for your excess sweat.
